Gallery: Super Joy TV Game GT2801
While browsing the local weekly flea market, I came across two of these Famiclone plug-and-play consoles. I'm always intrigued by these weird and obscure bootleg systems. These 'Super Joy' units, modelled after popular '90s controllers like the N64 and Mega Drive controllers, are fairly well-documented—but not this particular one. This unit is modelled after the Sega Saturn Model 2 controller.
I bought both units. One was sealed, while the other had been opened before but appeared to have been used very little, if at all. Unfortunately, neither of them works. One briefly displayed a garbled menu before dying completely. Despite my best efforts, I couldn’t get either of them to function. After trying several things, I suspect there’s an issue with the ROM chips underneath one of the black blobs.
At the very least, I can share detailed photos of this console. However, I would have liked to showcase the menus and games it contains. The photos were taken before I attempted any repairs to the units.
